Documentation
Description:
The Akrivia Health database contains anonymised data derived from the electronic health records of secondary mental health and dementia care patients across England and Wales. Structured data, such as patient demographics and service pathways, are harmonised across different Healthcare Organisation providers, with research-relevant information also being extracted from free-text progress notes using natural language processing. Data access is provided via Akrivia’s secure data environment.

Access Service:
The Akrivia database can be accessed via a paid secure data access service,
allowing researchers to safely interrogate an anonymised (but still
record-level) version of the network-wide dataset within Akrivia’s Secure Data
Environment (SDE). This is a paid service, in order to ensure its
sustainability, and continued development of the dataset. Non-commercial users
(academia, government, charities) receive highly discounted rates, with a
further low-cost option for Student Researchers. Cost is based on duration of
access and number of users but typically commercial access starts from £75,000
for 6 months of access, non-profit access starts from £15,000 for 6 months of
access, and student access starts from £5,000 for 3 months of access. Please
contact support@akriviahealth.com for full details of what the access includes.
Data access requires contracting between Akrivia Health and the legal entity
concerned. Where the overarching contract has been established (e.g. between
Akrivia Health and University), the contracting for an individual project
requires a lightweight application: this means the access request process for a
first project can be lengthy (typically more than 6 months) but subsequent
applications are typically processed in 1-4 weeks. We also provide consultancy
services where we work collaboratively to conduct data analyses on our clients’
behalf. To find out more about our consultancy services, please contact
