Description:
Lipoprotein (a) is a type of cholesterol particle linked to heart disease that can be tested in clinical practice. This study aims to understand both the extent to which Lp(a) testing is done as well as understanding the patterns of testing, value of Lp(a) testing, Healthcare Resources Utilization (HCRU) associated with elevated Lp(a) and changes in treatment patterns after Lp(a) tests, this will include, hospitalizations, emergency room visits, outpatient visits, medical procedures, medication and laboratory measurements.
This study will be implemented across multiple trusts in United Kingdom to obtain data to support the analysis and research for this. This work will help improve the knowledge on Lp(a) testing in routine care, ensuring better informed treatment for people at risk of heart disease.
